The biological meaning of an adult animal or human is one that has completely matured. In the human context an adult's term has meanings associated with moral and social concepts. Contrary to those who are not considered an adult or "minor", the legal adult is a person who has reached the age of majority that makes them independent as well as responsible and competent. It is also possible to view them as an "major". The average age at which you can attain legal adulthood is 18, however, definitions can differ based on the legal rights of the country as well as the stage of psychological development.

Human development is the time during which physical and mental maturation has been reached. It usually starts when a person reaches the age of 21. Old age is about 60 years old after middle years. As we enter our early adulthood the physical capabilities of our bodies are at their best, including muscle strength, reaction time as well as sensory capabilities, cardiac functioning.
